bio:
nu 누 is a South Korean visual artist, working as an illustrator, painter, printmaker, and art lecturer based in New York as well as internationally. nu was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, and she has always loved to draw ever since she was born. Her inspiration and original imagination comes from her childhood memories of drawing small live creatures in nature she has had the good fortune to meet, see, touch, and communicate with throughout her life.
nu received her BFA in Visual Communication Design from Hongik University, where she was fascinated with making images in experimental animation and film. During this time, she found her true love and calling in communicating her artistic vocabulary through drawing and painting again as she was already when she was a child. nu moved to New York and earned her MFA at the School of Visual Arts in Illustration as Visual Essay.
Her artwork has won the International Communication Design Awards and SVA Alumni Scholarship Award, selected in AI-AP, AOI Images, Creative Quarterly, and appeared in various well known media including Lomography and Intel SciArt. nu has been invited to be featured in numerous exhibitions at various renowned galleries, including The National Arts Club, Brookfield Place Winter Garden, A.I.R. Gallery, 3rd Ward, and Monmouth Museum of Arts. Her work is continually demanded and owned by private collectors all over the world.
